I share a flat with four other people and I didn't want them to know that I had ordered Viagra. Spironolactone tablet

What is it used for?

SPIRONOLACTONE is a diuretic. It helps you to produce more urine and to lose excess water from your body as a result. This medicine is used for the treatment of a high blood pressure, edema or heart swelling, kidney and liver diseases. It can also be used to treat patients whose body produces too much aldosterone or those who have low potassium.

What should I discuss with my physician prior to taking this medicine?

Please do tell your physician if you have any of the following conditions:

  • high potassum level in blood
  • kidney diseases or trouble producing urine
  • liver diseases
  • an unusual or allergic reaction to spironolactone, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant
  • breast-feeding

How is this medicine should be taken?

Take this medicine orally accompanied with a drink of water. This medicine may be taken with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with a food or milk. You should never take this medicine more often than prescribed. Always remember that you will need to pass more urine after taking this medicine. Do not take your doses at a time of day when it might cause problems to you. Do not take at bedtime.

Consult with your pediatrician regarding the possibility of the use of this medicine by children. While this drug may be prescribed to them for selected conditions, precautions should be applied.

Overdosage: If you suspect an overdosage, get in touch with the nearest poison control center or emergency room immediately.

NOTE: This medicine is only intended for your use. You should never share it with the others.

What to do if I missed a dose?

If you missed a dose, it should be taken as soon as possible. If the time has almost come for the next dose, only that one should be taken. You should never take double or extra doses; a single doze is sufficient for the purposes.

What are the possible interactions with the other medicine/food/etc?

Do not take this medicine with the following:

  • eplerenone

It may also trigger possible interactions with the following:

  • corticosteroids
  • digoxin
  • lithium
  • medicines for high blood pressure like ACE inhibitors
  • skeletal muscle relaxants like tubocurarine
  • NSAIDs, medicines for pain and inflammation, like ibuprofen or naproxen
  • potassium products like the salt substitute or supplements
  • pressor amines like norepinephrine
  • some diuretics

This list is not all-inclusive. Provide your health care provider with a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you are using. Also tell them whether you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some of those items may also interact with your medicine.

Is there anything I should pay attention to while taking it?

Pay regular visits to your doctor or health care professional to undergo checks on your progress. Check your blood pressure as directed. Inquire with your doctor of what your blood pressure should be, and in what cases to contact them.

You may need to start a special diet while taking this medicine. Consult with your doctor for details. Also ask them how many glasses of fluid per day it is necessary for you to drink. You should not get dehydrated during the treatment course.

This medicine can make you feel confused, dizzy or lightheaded. Drinking alcohol and taking some medicines can make this worse. You shouldn’t drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how exactly this medicine affects you. Do not sit or stand up quickly.

Does this medicine have any possible side effects?

The following side effects should be reported to your doctor or health care professional as soon as they are noted:

  • allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching, hives, swelling of the lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
  • black or tarry stools
  • fast irregular heartbeat
  • fever
  • muscle pain, cramps
  • numbness, tingling in the hands or feet
  • trouble breathing
  • trouble passing urine
  • unusual bleeding
  • unusual weakness or feeling tired

The side effects listed below usually do not necessarily require any medical attention (please do report them to your physician if they are recurrent or bothersome):

  • change in voice or hair growth
  • confusion
  • dizzy, drowsy
  • dry mouth, increased thirst
  • enlarged or tender breasts
  • headache
  • irregular menstrual periods
  • sexual difficulty, unable to have an erection
  • stomach upset

Other side effects are also possible, the above list is not all inclusive.

Where should I keep my medicine?

Keep this medicine out of the children’s reach.

Store below 25 degrees C (77 degrees F). Dispose of any unused medicine after the expiry date is reached.
